Loes Timmermans is married and lives with her husband Huib in a house that is far too big. The children have left and all Loes has left to do is worry about them and meddle in their lives. Between the lines of the letters she writes to her daughter - which are read in the voice-over - they illustrate how dearly she craves to be wanted. When she briefly seems to have a mission again, she throws herself into it with great devotion. With disastrous consequences.
