Voix Invisibles

Director: Bart van den Aardweg
A poetic documentary about how trauma, alienation and anger can take root in the nighttime city. Through the inner world of radicalised youth, Bart van den Aardweg explores how violence increasingly seems like the only way out.
Through fragmented memories, intimate stories and scenes shot in cinéma-vérité style, we move through the inner world of radicalised young people. Drawing on magical realism, the nighttime city transforms into an underworld where reality and symbolism blur together. A ghostly camera drifts through streets and walls, weaving together with an unsettling dialogue about the loneliness, anger and confusion of young people. This documentary reveals how loss and isolation can fuel radical ideas.
