Vissentrein

Director: Noor Verbiest
On her way to visit her mother, thirty-year-old Nova slowly starts turning into a salmon. There's a reason for that, just as there's a reason behind the constant fear she feels of being filleted by her father.
When Nova takes the train to visit her recently divorced mother, her father keeps calling. Though she doesn't pick up, his presence still leaves her on edge. This graduation film combines fantasy and dance to portray the effects of sexual violence in a striking, unconventional way. During the train journey, Nova is pulled back into a childhood memory: standing in her father's kitchen, being made to fillet a fish. As he abused her, she suppressed her feelings. Now, those emotions resurface in a physical form, as Nova begins to grow scales and gills.
