When Salem, a third-country national, faces the possibility of having to leave the Netherlands, his life comes to a standstill once again. Through Salem's limbo, this documentary looks at the European migration crisis through the eyes of the ancient philosopher Ibn Arabi.
Salem, a young man from Western Sahara who studied in Ukraine, now lives in a Dutch asylum centre housed in a former office building. At this crossroads of worlds, he waits for a decision that will determine his future. This debut is an intimate essay film exploring the inner world of an ambitious student caught in a state of limbo. What role do dreams and desires play in a place where taking action is no longer possible, and where time itself seems to have lost all meaning?
