Series of short portraits of Utrecht artists Joop Moesman, saxophonist Gijs Hendriks, architect Sybold van Ravenstein and sculptor Elselien van de Graaf.
Five episodes from a series of twelve portraits of Utrecht artists. For centuries, the city was a centre of religion, art and science and dreamed of a sea link to keep up with progress. But this link only materialised in paintings. In the portrait of Joop Moesman (1909-1988), through interviews with relatives, collectors and archive footage of Moesman himself, not only the life and kind of work this indefatigable artist made is described, but also the artistic climate in Utrecht. In other episodes, portraits are presented of the architect Sybold van Ravensteyn, especially known from his railway stations, and of the Utrecht saxophonist Gijs Hendrickx, who plays with the organist of the Dom Church. Also portraits of sculptor Elselien van der Graaf, a new sculpture of whom was recently placed on the Maliebaan, and of the Utrecht author C.C.S. Crone.
