The intrepid thirteen-year-old Emma from Mali tries to feel at home in the Netherlands, but that is hard when you are between two cultures and discriminated against. Emma writes verses and songs to stave off the injustice. The documentary tells a courageous story about a sensitive yet strong girl looking for her place in the world. It is a topical and at the same time universal story about the impact words can have, prejudices, acceptance, hopes and ideals.
