Gusti is a Dutch gypsy boy from an Eastern European Romany family. At seventeen, his parents regard him as ripe for a wife. After a six-year quest in the Romany clan in Europe, his parents have eventually settled on Nasta (14), 'a little Swedish girl and pretty as a picture'. There is however one problem: the traditional mourning process surrounding the death of Nasta's Grandma prevents a wedding in the near future. Gusti is terribly in love and can hardly wait. The film shows the involvement of the parents in their attempts to couple their son to the Swedish girl. Onze schoondochter (Our Daughter-in-law) is an episode in the series Time Codes, nine documentaries about young people in Holland, made by young film talent.
