Xolani, a lonely factory worker, joins a group of men who set up camp in the remote mountains of the Eastern Cape province in South Africa. Every year, male Xhosa teens undergo a tribally rooted rite of passage here. Xolani assists in this rite. When one of the boys discovers Xolani’s best kept secret, his whole existence is shaken. This drama explores the definition of masculinity and suppressed sexuality in patriarchal South Africa.
