International co-production by René Seegers about the turbulent life of the Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821-1881). Dostoyevsky's publisher forces him to complete his latest book The Gambler - dealing with his days as a gambling addict - within twenty-seven days. If not, the sanction is that he will lose all rights to his previous works.
