The Coriolis Effect

Director: Petr Lom
On the barren, hurricane-ridden Cape Verde Islands, the filmmakers find people and animals that share one thing: a zest for life in the eye of the storm.
The Cape Verde Islands are known for being the place where hurricanes are born. This is caused by the Coriolis effect: the rotation of the earth affects the trade winds between the islands in stormy conditions. Climate change enhances this effect, making hurricanes ever more devastating. The filmmakers focus on those who try to help and on the zest for life that flares up in people as well as animals. Here, every creature is equally important and all life is awe-inspiring. This awe may show a way out of this plight.
