This hypnotic short animated film, made with a circular knitting machine, consists entirely of knitted animations. What is lost and what is gained when pixels are transformed into textile?
In this debut, abstract knitting patterns full of colourful dots, squares, and dancing figures succeed one another at high speed, propelled by the electronic music of Segadeath. In her series of knitted animations, Noa Mac Donald explores the translation process from pixel design to textile. Mac Donald, an animator and mixed-media artist, created this short experimental film during the annual Advanced Textile Program (ATP) at the TextielMuseum in Tilburg, set up for an international group of emerging talents.
