Farèn helps young female refugees working at her restaurant to literally and figuratively keep their heads above water. In the process, she is also coping with her own traumas.
Almost thirty years after her forced departure from Iran, Farèn is the proud owner of a restaurant and cultural meeting place in Maastricht. This documentary shows how she does various things to support her staff, including women who like her had to leave their native country. Not only with swimming lessons, but also with teaching them Dutch, handling their paperwork, building self-confidence and finding their own place in a new world. But Farén can’t let go of her own past yet, either.
