Despite the warm-hearted images from the family archive, Jonnah Bron lacks an intimate bond with her (adoptive) parents. Can the three get closer under – or even owing to – the eye of the camera?
In the year that Jonnah turns thirty, she reflects on her relationship with her (adoptive) parents. She feels that through the years a wall has grown between them, but she never had the courage to discuss this. Illustrated by footage from the family archive, we join Jonnah on a trip to her former home on Schiermonnikoog and back to China, from where she came to the Netherlands as a seven-month-old baby. By means of intimate conversations, she takes her first steps towards a closer bond with her parents.
