Portrait of four detained youthful delinquents.
Impressive report of the effect of detention on four youthful delinquents. Christine Nevejan followed the four for a period of nine months in the Utrecht Dr. Henri van der Hoeven Clinic. As far as she is concerned, the mentally-ill criminals are both culprit and victim and the film is a plea for humane treatment of these criminals. Without using black masks, disguise or other ways of making the patients unrecognisable, she manages to guarantee the privacy of her characters. While staff and doctors are showed in full, we only see extreme close-ups of the patients' eyes, lips or hands. Farewell is episode four from the series.
