In an effort to gain her parents’ attention, acrobat Juliette attempts the perfect trick. If she succeeds, it might rouse her family from their stupor, yet failure could come at a devastating cost.
In this exuberant ode to silent film by graduating director Femke Hemelaar, 20-year-old acrobat Juliette takes centre stage. She is a member of a sleepy circus family, each member withdrawn into his or her own world. Her father Charlie is a nostalgic poet, too caught up in his past. Her mother Marilou is a fortune teller, living in constant fear of what the future holds. When Juliette attempts a dangerous stunt to capture their attention, it threatens to have fatal consequences. Will it be enough to wake them from their long slumber?
