Along the water and from a sailing boat, Haanstra filmed the typically Dutch scenery with an inverted camera in the reflection of the water. Alternately, city and country are shown, with and without people. The result is a cinematic poem with an intriguing ending in the dark. The recordings required some patience, because Haanstra only filmed when the sun was low to get the right contrast in the reflection of the water. One of the many awards this documentary won was the Cannes Grand Prix in 1951.
