Sonja van Hamel - Goodbye To Mercury

Director: Sonja van Hamel
A woman searches for her absent father in the faces of strangers, mostly men with mustaches. Using AI-generated imagery, music, and poetic monologues, she weaves together memory and imagination in a cinematic quest for his elusive presence. Goodbye to Mercury is an intimate portrait of longing, loss, and the fragile search for identity.
This 2025 edition celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Fullscreen x XITE program!
Fullscreen x XITE has been a festival highlight for years. Over the past eight editions, clips from a wide variety of artists have been featured: from S10 to Kempi, from André Hazes to Akwasi, from Froukje to De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig. But also international clips by Madonna, Janelle Monáe, and James Blake. After all, Dutch directors go far and wide, creating music videos that reach well beyond our borders. So, once again this year, you can look forward to a richly diverse program! The selection will be announced in August.
In between the clips, the program’s creator, Job de Wit, will talk with directors and artists. This way, you’ll hear the stories behind the videos, gain insight into the making of music videos, and learn more about the creative collaboration between directors and artists.
