Sinterklaas en de verdwenen pakjesboot

Director: Martijn van Nellestijn
Look, here comes the steamboat from far-away lands. One day early, unfortunately, and without St. Nicholas! By mistake, they have left him in Spain. Nobody on the boat, including the good-humoured captain (Frans Bauer), is aware of any harm. The villain, of course, is the sinister Dr. Brein, who once more manages, from behind bars, to sabotage the celebrations. People that are on board include two stowaway children. So, all the ingredients are there for an old-fashioned adventure for the little ones, featuring a host of famous Dutch people. Martijn van Nellestijn (director, producer, screenwriter and in a supporting role as a criminal accomplice) saw his belief in Santa as a commercial screen hero rewarded for the second consecutive year. This direct sequel to Het Geheim van het Grote Boek, also a Golden Film, was the best-attended youth and family film in 2009. Prior to this, Van Nellestijn had created a complete St. Nicholas oeuvre with (video) productions for regional television. And the party is not over yet: this autumn, his sixth St. Nicholas adventure, Sinterklaas en het pakjesmysterie, will have its première.
