In and out. In... and out. The breathing of the Wadden Sea is hypnotising. And the backdrop is overwhelming: sky, water, clouds, wind, fog. And that light!
Silence of the Tides is a film that inhales and exhales with the tide of the international world heritage, one of the largest unbroken wetlands in the world: the Wadden Sea. Meanwhile, the fragile relationship between man and nature is explored. It provides a hypnotic perspective of the seasonal cycles and contrasts. Life and death, storm and silence, the mass and the individual. A lyrical contemplation without voice-overs or interviews, against an overwhelming backdrop of sky, water, clouds, wind, fog and continually changing light.
