Television version of the play Shirley Valentine from 1986 by Willy Russell (film version from 1989 directed by Lewis Gilbert). Anne-Wil Blankers is the tired housewife who babbles on to the viewer about her life, her children, her boring husband, who really needs a holiday, but doesn't know how to tell him. When she finally decides to go to Greece with her girlfriend Nel, her life takes a surprising turn. She decides not to return to the safety of home.
