A registration of the German-language music theatre production SENTIMENTI by ZT Hollandia and RuhrTriennale from the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum. SENTIMENTI is based on Ralf Rothmann’s novel Milch und Kohle. The performance focuses on the memories that Simon (Jeroen Willems) has, sitting at his mother’s deathbed, of her forbidden love affair with an Italian immigrant worker in the 1960s. Accompanied by musical passages from operas by Verdi, Simon, reliving this history, searches for the essence of love. In surrealistic images and sounds, he looks at himself and the lost world of his childhood in the Ruhr Area.
