‘Selamat jalan’ means something like ‘safe journey’ or ‘farewell’, but in this simple animation it is anything but that for a Moluccan boy bobbing on the ocean in his ornate dragon boat.
A boy ends up in stormy weather at sea in this hand-drawn animated film. Deep sorrow over loss and adversity also becomes a seedbed for new life and a new beginning. Seagulls target his boat, decorated with dahlias, and the small vessel is no match for towering waves. But there is also a dash of magic in this graduation film that brings about an enchanting turn of events.
