Documentary about music, passion and home-sickness. It is set in the World Music Department of the Rotterdam Conservatoire where students and teachers come together from all four corners of the globe to make music with its own roots and sound. Saudade concentrates on five students who live for and with music. The film looks at their individual motivation, their hard work and the pure pleasure that making music gives them. Using close-ups, the film tries to reveal the essence of the music and to take the viewer along to the world of flamenco, tango, Indian, Brazilian and Caribbean music.
