It is a tense time for the young singer-songwriter Roos Rebergen, also known as Roosbeef. Not only does she carry off important pop awards, her parental home is also knocked down. In these turbulent times, Berkhout follows Rebergen for his disarming portrait of her.
'The farm gets a shot, without anaesthetic', Roos sings about the demolition. Her parental home turns out to be a picturesque farm that is the venue for an annual theatre and music festival. Between gigs, Roos - flushing cheeks, bright pink hair -makes vain attempts to save the farm, while looking for a place of her own.
The conversations with Roos and her family and friends alternate with observations of her life and her characteristic shows. The film also features music videos of Roos' songs about the farm, construction workers and braces. Although Roos easily wins over a full house, the 19-year-old remains modest: 'The lyrics pop up before I have time to think about them. I don't think with every line. What a gem.'
