Based on a short story by Chekhov in which the musician Smytsjkov is on his way to prince Bibuloff's dacha and meets a princess. He loses the double bass he carries in a leather case on his back, but you can easily hide in the empty case. During the screening, the film music was performed live in 2009 by an ensemble led by Quirijn van Regteren Altena, who plays the bass player in the film. Director Janica Draisma plays the princess, but her character also came 'to life' on stage in a short dance.
