Documentary about two centres for asylum seekers in the north of the Netherlands. Their daily life is characterised by endless waiting.
Eating, sleeping, talking. And waiting, for very, very long. These are the main activities of the currently much-reviled asylum seekers everywhere in the Netherlands. Filmmakers Anna Abrahams and Jan Frederik Groot observed the lengthy wait in two centres for asylum seekers in the North of Holland. The neutral, realistic images depict the life of the not-yet-citizens as it really is, sharply contrasting with the asylum seekers' often dramatic histories. In this documentary, the makers refrain from passing judgement. They merely show how, under the influence of the agonisingly slow passing of time, the occupants' colourful mutual differences blend into a grey and sombre whole in a no-identity no man's land.
