A French veteran and an archaeology student recall the French nuclear tests in Algeria. Together, they speculate about what will be remembered and what will remain forever hidden beneath the sand.
A few times a year, the sky turns red in France. Due to a difference in air pressure, dust from the Sahara is carried from North Africa to Southern Europe. This dust is a time capsule: it contains cesium-137, a remnant of the French nuclear tests in Algeria. A French veteran looks back on his past and the events following the nuclear trials. He and an archaeology student speculate about which stories, truths, and events will be remembered – and which will disappear forever beneath the red dust.
