Three Ukrainian women fled their country and descended on the luxurious, but overcrowded Polish Hotel Maria. In this documentary mosaic, they all struggle with the absence of their loved ones.
When Russia invaded Ukraine, the proprietor of the Polish Hotel Maria immediately offered to receive forty refugees. Seven hundred people reacted, including Marta (40), Valentyna (44) and Ann (17). This observing documentary shows how these refugees, each in her own way, deal with the uncertain situation and the lack of their loved ones and families who stayed behind in the war-torn home country. These absent people, this mosaic narrative demonstrates, have the greatest impact on the experiences of the involuntary exiles.
