Sail along between the Netherlands and France and immerse yourself in the world of the bargee. Three juxtaposed images bring forth a poetic impression of freedom, life and the changing Europe.

A 'boat movie' is what the makers call their documentary project. A trip on the waterways between the Netherlands and France as seen from the perspective of a captain of a barge. The cranes and buckets in the port, the passing landscape with its canals and locks, the wholly unique world of the bargee’s family. By simultaneously showing three juxtaposed images, a poetic experience emerges, set to the rhythm of the quietly pulsing ship’s engine. The ship as a metaphor of the lapsing of time and the slowly changing Europe.
