Yolanda meets the American prisoner Billy online, and promptly falls in love. What moves her, even after he ends up on death row after murdering a guard, to go all the way for him?
This documentary follows the Dutch introverted and solitary Yolanda, who gets acquainted with Billy via writeaprisoner.com. Never before, a man was so open to her, someone wanted to get to know or help her so gladly. Yolanda is not the only one. Annually, hundreds of women get married to their incarcerated American pen friends. These liaisons are full of issues due to which many modern relationships break down: no physical contact, privacy or spontaneity. Nevertheless, Yolanda and Billy’s love seems unconditional, even after Billy kills a guard in prison and ends up on death row.
