Unconventional documentary about senile dementia. Director Ton Koole spent two months living among a group of senile old people and registered life around them. In Ontdaan (Loose Ends) he wanted to unravel and demythologise the reality of senile people. The film shows senile people as complete individuals who live and experience all aspects of life, be it in a way that is difficult to fathom for the non-senile onlooker. The film focuses on the reality of senile people, not the problem. This reality is characterised by failing memory and the breaking down of inhibitions and conventional behaviour. Two senile women guide the viewer through the corridors of the psycho-geriatric institution. In the five portraits, they play 'supporting roles as wanderers'.
