Antwerp is the setting of a harsh realistic portrait of two young people and their little son who are forced to move in with the wife's parents. Particularly the husband of the couple finds it tough, but he lacks the vigour to improve his life. Director Smits shows how economic adversity can spread through life like a virus. Everything palls and what used to be everyday events now become hostile situations.
