What do images of disaster and violence do to us? This film examines the effect of watching them. An eye locks onto the viewer in close-up, its pupil mirroring not only disaster, but scenes of a very different kind.
An eye stares at the viewer. In the pupil, we see a montage of calamity pass by. Images of wartime violence, natural disasters and everyday accidents appear and disappear in the eye, interspersed with images of microbiological processes, cosmic landscapes and technological progress. Artist Sebastián Díaz Morales is fascinated by the act of looking itself, and with his raw, static close-up, distorts our reality into a surrealist fantasy world. The eye reflects, letting you experience everyday reality just a little differently.
