Queer filmmaker visiting a god-fearing Rumanian village falls in love with a single transgender parent. This documentary shows this does not go down well in the community. Can they flee to the Netherlands?
The original aim was to shoot a documentary in the Rumanian countryside about the connection between man and nature. But love throws a spanner in the works, when the filmmaker falls in love with a single transgender parent. When the villagers discover the true nature of their relationship, the couple is confronted by the homophobia rampant in the religious community. Threats and conflicts eventually force the two to execute an escape plan, take the children and flee to the filmmaker’s homeland: the Netherlands.
