Not Built to Last

Director: Deniz Arikan
Two architects walk through Rotterdam. One has lived there her entire life; the other is visiting for a short while, from Istanbul. A simple tour turns into an intimate encounter with freedom, identity and the idea of home.
Rotterdam: a city that has had to reinvent itself. Architect Daniel gives a tour to Emre, an architect from the eternal city of Istanbul. What begins as a tour of architectural highlights gradually becomes a personal encounter with differences in identity, collective memory and freedom. A subtle, layered debut film about the relationship between cities and their inhabitants.
