What happens when the leading national museum focusses on the Dutch history of slavery?
Nieuw Licht: het Rijksmuseum and de slavernij is a topical documentary about the organisation of the exhibition on slavery in the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum. For the first time in two centuries, this institution, so firmly rooted in Dutch history and culture, examines its own attitude towards the history of slavery. The contributions by people of colour turned out essential in developing the display.
