Around 1955, artist Constant Nieuwenhuijs (1920-2005) preaches the demise of the art of painting. He looks for other ways to visualise a world where total freedom reigns. This results in the extensive New Babylon, a utopian project consisting of scale models, drawings and paintings. He works on it from 1956 to 1972. Everything is captured on film by Constant's son Victor.
