On Instagram, a virtual character Nerd_Funk curates a selection from contemporary internet culture. This provides the material for a series of VR experiences.
Digital culture is ubiquitous and has fundamentally changed our lives. Artists Ali Eslami and Mamali Shafahi explore the phenomenon through a virtual identity they have created: Nerd_Funk. You can follow Nerd_Funk on Instagram for a curated insight into contemporary digital culture, created from the stories of other users in Nerd_Funk’s Instagram Stories feed. This forms the basis for a series of virtual reality experiences that provide a sharper view of the current state of the social media world. A kaleidoscopic portrait of our time, offering an alternative perspective on our own reality and that of the world(s) we live in.
