Psychological drama based on the Norwegian fin-de-siècle novel by Knut Hamsun, set in the late 19th century on the Isle of Man. The arrival of a mysterious stranger (Rutger Hauer) causes all kinds of complications in a peaceful coastal village when he falls for the local femme fatale.
