In October 1940, the painter Piet Mondriaan (62) fled to New York to escape the Germans. Using archive footage, the film provides a picture of his exile. Six people close to Mondriaan talk about his life and work and look at how the radical changes came about in his art from his period, which is not well known in Holland.
