Mijn lief kind

Director: Maarten de Schutter
Ten years after Martine de Schutter was killed, her son tries to reconstruct his lost memories. A love letter and an outburst of anger in one.
In July 2014, AIDS activist and feminist anthropologist Martine de Schutter was killed. Ten years later, her only child tries to reconstruct their relationship, her life and his lost memories in a documentary that is part love letter, part scream of rage. The result is an associative mix of archive footage, conversations, photographs, objects, letters and soundbites. This makes this debut film a sample of resistance against the inevitable fading and disappearing of memories, but above all an intimate representation of the bond between mother and child.
