When Arie commits suicide at 22, his younger brother Gijs and his parents are left in confusion. In this documentary full of grief, humour and hope, they struggle with their unspeakable loss and the question 'why?'.
In late 2019, Arie (22) takes his life. Nobody saw it coming, not even his parents or younger brother Gijs. An unreal time dawns. This documentary offers an intimate glimpse of the lives of the relatives left behind, who pick up life again awash with confusion and grief, but also with humour and hope. They try to understand what drove Arie to commit suicide. Did they miss the signs? Why did he not confide his darkest thoughts to them?
