In the parish of Schimmert in the deep Dutch south, the old familiar priest grows forgetful and can use some help. Two cheerful and eager young Indonesian fathers present themselves in this intriguing and entertaining documentary for a transfer that appears complex.
For all the inhabitants of Schimmert know, John van Oss (1937), Father, is always there for them in their parish in the deep Dutch south. But now that Van Oss’ enthusiastic successors have arrived, it is time for a transfer. This documentary follows the old parish priest and the two young Indonesian fathers during a process that turns out to be complex, where language barriers, surrender and a 'disease' aggravate things. When will Van Oss confidently relinquish his beloved church and community?
