Lucifer

Director: Gust Van den Berghe
When falling from heaven to hell, Lucifer passes the earthly paradise, a Mexican village where he causes quite a stir and lays bare the distinction between good and evil. He makes an old woman question her religion, seduces her granddaughter and 'cures' a malingering lazybones. Magical realism with an ironical touch colours this fable based on Vondel’s eponymous play. Final part of a triptych about the awakening of man. Van den Berghe's fondness for experiment reveals itself in his use of a new circular film format, called 'Tondoscope'.
