Lolamoviola - Dead Souls

Director: Bram van Splunteren
Low-budget film, English-spoken, from the VPRO TV series Lolamoviola, partly inspired by the book Woman Who Love Too Much by American psychiatrist Robin Norwood. Dead Souls tells the story of a Dutch woman who has an American adventure with libertine Tony after a miserable marriage with a tyranical husband. During her stay in America, the land of her dreams, she does all the things that God and her husband had forbidden. However when it becomes apparent that her American lover lapses into the same pattern as her husband, her dream starts to change into a nightmare. Again she allows herself to be belittled and humiliated. When at last she brings her relationship with Tony to a violent end, the question arises how she should end her Dutch marriage.
