Television film from the VPRO TV series Lolamoviola. Coma tells the story of a mysterious man in his forties who is confined to hospital and encased in plaster from head to toe. The enigmatic patient is suffering from amnesia. He has neither identity nor past. A blank page, without language and prejudice, the man starts a new life. Just like a baby learning to talk, the first word he utters is 'mama'. A helpful woman gives the man a book illustrated with photos to help him regain his memory. Slowly reminiscences emerge and his past is unravelled. The important roles in this low-budget film are played by four actors from the Trust theatre company. Awarded in 1994 the Golden Calf for Best TV Drama.
