Two immigrants in Los Angeles write letters home. A Dutch girl writes to her mother about her dream of becoming an actress and making a fresh start. A Lebanese boy, who writes to his grandfather, struggles with his origin. Since 9/11, people ask him to account for his name. We hear both of them in the voice-over, while a shaky camera films them from up close, outside, in the street, in the bus, on their bicycle. Two strangers, in the same city.
