For the Pandora Foundation, an organisation for helping people with psychological or psychiatric problems, Froukje Bos made five documentary portraits about the social position of mental patients and ex-patients. In Ballad of Being, some residents of De Walenburg, the Amsterdam centre for homeless people, are observed without comment. The film won the 1992 Golden Calf for Best Feature Lenght Documentary.
