When a Cuban farmer sells his own cow, he is convicted to six years in prison. Poignant family saga shows how a trivial personal story is inextricably linked to the larger Cuban history.
Uncle Ezequiel is serving six years in prison. The Cuban farmer had the nerve to sell his own cow. Filmmaker Salvador Gieling, a cousin by marriage, is dumbfounded. How can he explain this to his two-year-old son? Gieling travels to the Cuban countryside with his family to analyse this implausible story. The documentary interweaves the intriguing Cuban history with the objective investigation into Ezequiel’s case and the personal story of Gieling’s wife, who fled Cuba.
