Lacuna

Director: Maartje Wegdam, Nienke Huitenga Broeren
As a little girl, Sonja was rescued after being separated from her parents forever. But she can't remember any of it. Three long-lost napkin rings mark the beginning of a journey through the imagination. Wander with her in this personal VR documentary.

Sonja can’t remember anything of the moment when her life was saved and she was separated from her father and mother, during her early childhood in 1943. The discovery of three silver napkin rings raises questions about her past in this personal VR documentary. In the emotional journey that unfolds, you follow Sonja through distorted memories, fading images and reinterpretations of the past, back to that one moment of loss and grief during World War II. The true story takes you from Paramaribo to Amsterdam and the mental institution where her father worked.

This VR experience lasts 40 minutes. Please arrive 10 minutes in advance.
